The Dealership We all know the shock of being rear ended by unexpected trials in life, but there is hope! On May 27, 2026, very recently, I was rear ended hard! All kinds of emotions surfaced. I was concerned about the pain I was experiencing, but the emergency room said I had no broken bones, just very sore muscles. Thank God! I had a 2015 vehicle with low mileage that ran great, so I wasn't motivated to seek out another car. Then my car was totaled, therefore I had to go find another one. I found one at the dealership with updated safety features and technology. This prompted me to think of God as the Dealership, as well as being the Creator and Owner. Here people depend on the salesperson and the mechanic to help move about in life. God contains all we need, that is, what people seek can be found in this "dealership". We all want to find something to take us from point A to point Z. From birth un...
I said to my soul, be still and let the dark come upon you, which shall be the darkness of God. ~ T.S. Eliot
In darkness, God created the light. In darkness we were formed in our mother's womb. Just as our organs function within our bodies in the dark, it is in the lack of light that the seeds begin to evolve and grow. Because of darkness, we can appreciate the light. In darkness our bodies, our minds and our souls, rest as we sleep.
Our universe is made up of dark matter. During the Dark Night of the Soul, our spirits change and grow, and without endarkment we would not experience enlightenment. It is in the darkness of death that we enter the light of new life and in the darkness of pain and suffering we are transformed.
Darkness doesn't have to be a negative word because God uses darkness from the beginning of time to the present moment to bring about growth. It is up to us to embrace the dark. Also, the sky uses darkness for the stars and celestial bodies to shine in the night.
Though our society tends to be afraid of the dark, of death, of pain and suffering and of negative emotions, we could welcome what we are afraid of to enable us to change, grow and become the light we are meant to be. If creation and nature use darkness, so should we!
It is in stillness that our souls embrace what we are afraid of, so when we encounter darkness, we can take in and reflect upon what we avoid. May we embrace and use darkness as nature does, a place to bring light, rest, and transformation.
When has darkness been a catalyst for light in your life?

ReplyDeleteDarkness and light…. I choose light. But I love to watch a full moon with a dark sky.
ReplyDeleteMy life has been very busy lately at least for the last four months. Traveling a lot to help a friend find a cancer trial, regularly traveling to visit a relative in the hospital. Trying to get our garden planted, as we have a limited grow season in Western New York. Also, trying to exercise, eat ride and stay healthy. A few days ago, I came down with a really bad head and chest cold. I am almost never ever sick. I didn’t look at the constant coughing and sneezing and headache as a dark time. I knew God was using it to force me to lay down and relax and sleep and rest. He knew that it was the only way that I would stop and regroup and reset. What could have been a dark period was a light period for me. I laid on the couch watching TV , took long naps , drank lots of kombucha and stayed in my pajamas. I’m slowly emerging on the upswing and I feel great.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing this!! 🙏 I'm happy for you that you recognized God's presence during a hectic time and during your health challenges. Jesus tells us to approach him when we are weary and find life burdensome and we will be refreshed. 💛💛💛
