Lent is a time for...

As I'm reflecting on this Lenten season this surfaced in my heart when I came upon this picture from my back yard.                       Lent is the time for... We are told in Lent Remember you are dust And to dust you shall return We start our journey Towards the Cross And towards the Resurrection As dust specks As ashes God formed humankind From the dust of the ground Breathing life into us Lent is the time When the breath of the Spirit Gathers the dust And forms our souls Birthing Christ within So that we may be united To the Source of Creation Like a Phoenix rising God's flames in our hearts Aid in resurrecting And joining our souls To eternal love. Lent is the time To ponder and be introspective To grow out of the ashes And feel the fire Of Divine Love. I pray that the rest of this Lent you find yourself rising to meet the resurrected Christ in your daily lives, walking besides the God that does not disappoint 🙏

In Darkness and light

I said to my soul, be still and let the dark come upon you, which shall be the darkness of God. ~ T.S. Eliot

In darkness, God created the light. In darkness we were formed in our mother's womb. Just as our organs function within our bodies in the dark, it is in the lack of light that the seeds begin to evolve and grow. Because of darkness, we can appreciate the light. In darkness our bodies, our minds and our souls, rest as we sleep.

Our universe is made up of dark matter. During the Dark Night of the Soul, our spirits change and grow, and without endarkment we would not experience enlightenment. It is in the darkness of death that we enter the light of new life and in the darkness of pain and suffering we are transformed.

Darkness doesn't have to be a negative word because God uses darkness from the beginning of time to the present moment to bring about growth. It is up to us to embrace the dark. Also, the sky uses darkness for the stars and celestial bodies to shine in the night.

Though our society tends to be afraid of the dark, of death, of pain and suffering and of negative emotions, we could welcome what we are afraid of to enable us to change, grow and become the light we are meant to be. If creation and nature use darkness, so should we!

It is in stillness that our souls embrace what we are afraid of, so when we encounter darkness, we can take in and reflect upon what we avoid. May we embrace and use darkness as nature does, a place to bring light, rest, and transformation.

When has darkness been a catalyst for light in your life?

  1. Darkness and light…. I choose light. But I love to watch a full moon with a dark sky.

  2. My life has been very busy lately at least for the last four months. Traveling a lot to help a friend find a cancer trial, regularly traveling to visit a relative in the hospital. Trying to get our garden planted, as we have a limited grow season in Western New York. Also, trying to exercise, eat ride and stay healthy. A few days ago, I came down with a really bad head and chest cold. I am almost never ever sick. I didn’t look at the constant coughing and sneezing and headache as a dark time. I knew God was using it to force me to lay down and relax and sleep and rest. He knew that it was the only way that I would stop and regroup and reset. What could have been a dark period was a light period for me. I laid on the couch watching TV , took long naps , drank lots of kombucha and stayed in my pajamas. I’m slowly emerging on the upswing and I feel great.

Hello!

This is my first time blogging. The Spirit within me has been tapping my shoulder and bopping my head to share my reflections, poems and prayers with others. So let me introduce where I'm coming from. Since I was very young, I've felt the presence of God in my life. Then, when I was 16 and living at home, smoking a cigarette in the bathroom, so I wouldn't get caught (I quit cold turkey later), when out of nowhere, an intense surge of energy cursed through my body. It was so strong it brought me to my knees. I instantly knew it was God. I ran out to tell my mother I wanted to be a nun (as I was raised Catholic). But I quickly changed my mind because I wanted to be married and have kids. This event led me in my spiritual journey to get to know and experience the Divine Creator in wonderful ways. I have since then felt the presence of God as energy within me recognizing the Holy One as the source of these feelings enhancing my spirituality. Though I've experienced many s...
