The Dealership We all know the shock of being rear ended by unexpected trials in life, but there is hope! On May 27, 2026, very recently, I was rear ended hard! All kinds of emotions surfaced. I was concerned about the pain I was experiencing, but the emergency room said I had no broken bones, just very sore muscles. Thank God! I had a 2015 vehicle with low mileage that ran great, so I wasn't motivated to seek out another car. Then my car was totaled, therefore I had to go find another one. I found one at the dealership with updated safety features and technology. This prompted me to think of God as the Dealership, as well as being the Creator and Owner. Here people depend on the salesperson and the mechanic to help move about in life. God contains all we need, that is, what people seek can be found in this "dealership". We all want to find something to take us from point A to point Z. From birth un...
Ash Wednesday
Today is the beginning of Lent which means "Spring". Spring is the time of year where dead things come to life. It means that the seeds that were buried in the ground during the winter grow into flowers. Dead tree limbs resurrect and begin to grow a new canopy of leaves. Animals create new life in the warming and awakening of the earth in this season. Earth begins to awaken from its slumber, it remembers the dark and cold nights, where everything rested only to stir up new life as the eyes of nature open wide, signaling new beginnings.
Lent is the time for us to be birthed and be born anew. The 9 months in the womb are like the 40 days before Easter. Here we are formed and defined as we grow into the people we were meant to be. It is like seeds, buried in the ground that are shaped into flowers, grass and all things nature puts forth in Spring.
Lent is a time for introspection, looking deep within to discover who we truly are as we grow and develop in the womb of God. Lent is when our souls naturally develop, looking forward to the light of Easter.
During Lent we die and resurrect. Here we make ourselves small growing incrementally until we are ready to be born. Our soul comes to life after reflecting on our own dark side, acknowledging our weakness and the need to be in control. Nature does not control the rebirth of all things dead and buried, it happens naturally and instinctively.
Through the acts of reading, pondering, praying, and looking for ways in which to increase our faith, we get to consider how God works in us, with us, and through us.
Lent prepares us for our own awakening to God's mercy, grace, and immense love. It reminds us that Jesus chose to die in order to become the risen Christ. In Lent we too choose to die to become like Christ.
May we all consider our death to self as a catalyst to new life. As we see Spring blossom, may our hearts blossom as well during the season of Lent.

Great reflection.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Glad you liked it 🙏
DeleteYes, you have defined Lent quite well! It really is a sort of a yin and yang type of thing. One day it is 80 degrees then the next is 45! I suppose being ready for what God has in store for us is a good thing. And preparations can be fun as well as challenging. May your Lenten journey bring you many positive outcomes.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate your feedback! May your Lenten journey be fulfilling and blessed 🙏💛
