Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last. The veil of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom. ~ Mark 15:37-38 Matthew, Mark and Luke all talk about the veil of the temple/sanctuary being torn in half, from top to bottom at Jesus' death. The Temple of Jerusalem was separated by a veil, that is, the innermost part that housed the Holy of Holies was separated from the outer part that encased the temple. The innermost part was only entered by the High Priest on Atonement day. Now because Jesus died, the tearing of the veil allowed God, the Holy of Holies to be accessible to all. As I reflect on these passages regarding the torn veil, I also see Jesus' humanity and divinity being torn in two at his death. The body of Jesus was now separated from His Spirit/Soul ( until they reunite at the Resurrection). "I commend my Spirit" Jesus says, leaving his body behind. Jesus' body is the temple of the Spirit, that is, The Holy of Holies, and the veil that sepa...
Do not neglect to show hospitality for by that means some have entertained angels without knowing it" ~ Hebrews 13:2
Angels are mentioned 273 times in Scripture. They appear as humans and a multitude of other ways. They have appeared to many in the Bible, Abram, Zachariah, Daniel, Jacob, Mary, Mary Magdalene, the disciples, as well as to many others across the centuries. There are many accounts of angels, even today. They come in person, dazzling, in dreams, with wings and chariots, as animals and birds, in strangers and in each other. Sometimes they are recognized as angels and other times not. The Talmud (a collection of oral teachings and discussions produced by Jewish Rabbis) says that each blade of grass has an angel telling them "grow, grow". I believe we have been generously given a guardian angel since before time.
I would like to describe an encounter I had during a time of need. My husband and I were facing financial difficulties, and he was possibly going to get laid off from work. I was at work, unable to concentrate, and I was praying, asking God to show me that it would all work out. So, I went down the elevator with a coworker and a woman began staring at me intently, which made me somewhat uncomfortable. When we got off on the first floor the woman turned, hugged me and gave me a kiss saying, "I have been asked to tell you that everything is going to be alright." She hastily left and I went after her but when I opened the door to the street, no one was on the right or left. I was baffled. I went back and asked the front desk person, who witnessed this, who was that individual. And she answered that it was some stranger talking to employees about God. And before anyone could respond or react, she went to the elevator and left where I encountered her. I believe with all my heart that was an angel sent to reassure me, I felt it in my soul. This was a direct answer to a prayer. And yes, my husband did not lose his job!
I've had many people minister to my husband and I in times of need, even strangers, and I felt the angel inside them speak to me.

Great note Cindy. Angels all around us.

DeleteYes angels can be right in front of me and I fail to recognize that angel..I need to slow down and allow the angel to be present to me. Thank you Cindy for reminding me.
