Lent is a time for...

As I'm reflecting on this Lenten season this surfaced in my heart when I came upon this picture from my back yard.                       Lent is the time for... We are told in Lent Remember you are dust And to dust you shall return We start our journey Towards the Cross And towards the Resurrection As dust specks As ashes God formed humankind From the dust of the ground Breathing life into us Lent is the time When the breath of the Spirit Gathers the dust And forms our souls Birthing Christ within So that we may be united To the Source of Creation Like a Phoenix rising God's flames in our hearts Aid in resurrecting And joining our souls To eternal love. Lent is the time To ponder and be introspective To grow out of the ashes And feel the fire Of Divine Love. I pray that the rest of this Lent you find yourself rising to meet the resurrected Christ in your daily lives, walking besides the God that does not disappoint 🙏

Come to me when life is burdensome

Who walks beside you in life?

Jesus says "Come to me all you who are weary and find life burdensome, and I will refresh you. Take my yolk upon your shoulders and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart. Your souls will find rest, for my yoke is easy and my burden light".

Jesus is reaching out to everyone, as we all find life burdensome at one point or another. No matter who we are, life comes with its share of strife. Jesus will refresh us, not necessarily take away the pain and suffering, but He will give us the tools to be able to handle our difficulties.

Yoke is defined as a wooden cross piece that is fastened over the necks of two oxen who are attached to the plow or cart they are to pull, walking together in sync. This means that Jesus/God will help us pull the load of life. If we choose to join and unite ourselves to Christ, we learn to be like Him, to be gentle with ourselves and others and to be truly humble of heart. We will not be bearing our pain alone. God will walk with us and never abandon us to walk by ourselves.

Life brings its share of troubles. But Jesus makes it clear that He wants to bring us rest. Not that the difficulties won't exist, but that He will be there when we find ourselves down and discouraged.

God invites all of us to walk with Him. Jesus stated His yoke is easy and light because He doesn't put conditions or restrictions to be with Him. This way, our souls can be at rest. So, when we walk beside Jesus and we are despairing, the yolk won't feel so heavy.

May we seek unity with God and walk alongside the one who loves us.

  1. Thank you for your beautiful reflection. I need to trust in the Lord that He is walking alongside me. This yoke I’ve been given is a gift. I have a choice to accept it or reject it. It shouldn’t be a tough choice!

Hello!

This is my first time blogging. The Spirit within me has been tapping my shoulder and bopping my head to share my reflections, poems and prayers with others. So let me introduce where I'm coming from. Since I was very young, I've felt the presence of God in my life. Then, when I was 16 and living at home, smoking a cigarette in the bathroom, so I wouldn't get caught (I quit cold turkey later), when out of nowhere, an intense surge of energy cursed through my body. It was so strong it brought me to my knees. I instantly knew it was God. I ran out to tell my mother I wanted to be a nun (as I was raised Catholic). But I quickly changed my mind because I wanted to be married and have kids. This event led me in my spiritual journey to get to know and experience the Divine Creator in wonderful ways. I have since then felt the presence of God as energy within me recognizing the Holy One as the source of these feelings enhancing my spirituality. Though I've experienced many s...

Ordinary mystics

Who is an ordinary mystic? An ordinary mystic sees the Divine  in everything they encounter Hears the voice of God  in a baby's squeal of delight Smells God's aroma and fragrance in the food mothers make Tastes the pain of death with assurance of the hereafter Feels the caress of the Creator when a feather lands on their shoulder An ordinary mystic Experiences peace in the midst of war Senses the pain of those that grieve Walks the path of serenity and joy Is in tune with the music of the universe And witnesses the extraordinary in the details of creation They say yes when called by God and share this calling with love Ordinary mystics are you and me

In Darkness and light

I said to my soul, be still and let the dark come upon you, which shall be the darkness of God. ~ T.S. Eliot In darkness, God created the light. In darkness we were formed in our mother's womb. Just as our organs function within our bodies in the dark, it is in the lack of light that the seeds begin to evolve and grow. Because of darkness, we can appreciate the light. In darkness our bodies, our minds and our souls, rest as we sleep. Our universe is made up of dark matter. During the Dark Night of the Soul, our spirits change and grow, and without endarkment we would not experience enlightenment. It is in the darkness of death that we enter the light of new life and in the darkness of pain and suffering we are transformed. Darkness doesn't have to be a negative word because God uses darkness from the beginning of time to the present moment to bring about growth. It is up to us to embrace the dark. Also, the sky uses darkness for the stars and celestial bodies to shin...
